SKILLS ACQUISITION TRAINING AND EMPOWERMENT

The skills acquisition training and empowerment is a way of inculcating into the women and youths the spirit of transformation of ideas into creativeness, as well as exposing them with diverse trades, vocations and skills acquisition training that would make them productive. These programmes encompass different ways women and youth can be exposed into different trades, vocations and skills that may help them to engage in sustainable pay and self-employment.

These skills acquisition is capable of ensuring value re-orientation among the women and youths, thereby transforming them into creators of wealth and employment instead or seekers. Basically, the creation of wealth and employment leads to poverty reduction, increase of welfare status of the women and youth, as well as promote entrepreneurship education and business start-up tools to provide self-employment, creativity and problem solving as viable alternatives to help them break-out of the poverty cycle and become economically self-reliant.

Givingplus African Foundation planned to carry out advocacy and sensitization in least ten (10) Secondary Schools across the States in Nigeria to create awareness on the danger of Narcotic and Psychotropic Drugs Addiction. The targeted participants should be among adolescents and youths within (10 – 25 years of age). The use of psychoactive substances is predominantly found in these categories of young people, as a result it has become a subject of public concern in Nigeria due to the fact that it contributes potentially to deliberate harm/injury to life. At this age, they desire to explore many things due to several factors like: curiosity, peer pressure and to relieve stress.
